Yoga for Stress and Trauma
10-12 July 2020

Teaching Yoga for Stress and Trauma

This is a two-day workshop for yoga teachers, psychotherapists or others interested in working with stress and trauma. The workshop will focus on teaching the restorative yoga practices through which healing naturally unfolds. Learn about how yoga helps recovery from trauma and eases stress, insomnia, depression and anxiety. Topics covered at the workshop include:

  • How traumatic events change the brain, impacting the body, mind and spirit;
  • Principles of using yoga to restore physical and mental health by rebalancing the nervous system;
  • Simple yoga postures, breathing and relaxation to release tension and create calm;
  • Tools to overcome sleep problems, shift thinking patterns, calm the emotions and bring stability;
  • Mental attitudes for letting go of past pain and feeling joy in the present.

“The sharing of information and knowledge has been allowed to drip into my being, with such an amazing underlying base of knowledge, kindness and organisation.” – Participant, June 2019

“I learned which poses to avoid or be careful with when working with vulnerable people and which sequences are the most suitable. I learned how important it is to give people a sense of choice and agency in the class so they don’t feel trapped or forced to do something.” – Participant, June 2019

“Thank you for providing such a lovely space to experience these important teachings. We loved the peaceful atmosphere and the strong, grounding energy.”
– Maria Hudnut and Urs Isenring, July 2016
